UPDATED: Hurricane Relief Fund

Filed under: General — site admin @ 4:31 pm

I see Hugh Hewitt is suggesting bloggers focus on raising funds for Hurricane Katrina victims.

I went to the ERD site (Episcopal Relief and Development). ERD has a Hurricane Relief Fund up and running. ERD has a superb track record for getting aid directly to victims. My own church’s rector is originally from southern Louisiana and a number of parishioners have relatives throughout the area. I know our church will have a special fundraiser this coming Sunday, as well as other churches throughout America.

You can contribute to the US Hurricane Fund by credit card at http://www.er-d.org/ or by calling 1-800-334-7626, ext. 5129.

Gifts can be mailed to:
Episcopal Relief and Development, c/o US Hurricane Fund,
PO Box 12043
Newark, NJ 07101.

UPDATE: Another place to donate. See the Diocese of Texas website.

UPDATE 2: See these updates (newer posts).

  1. The Church of the Nazarene is also providing aid to the victims. Churches in the affected area have been opened, and the denomination’s Compassionate Ministry unit has been mobilized. For more about how to help, see this story. Learn more about the Church of the Nazarene
