Provisional Epitaph for Easongate/It ain’t over ’til the tape rolls

Filed under: General — site admin @ 12:53 pm

Is the CNN-Davos scandal over because Eason Jordan resigned? Don’t think so– we haven’t seen the tape. It ain’t over ’til the tape rolls. Was Jordan guilty of slander (most likely explanation) or was he a victim of a blog mob?

If he did commit slander the US military is due an apology. As for the “internet mob” accusation — Jordan’s defenders are indeed rolling out the “victim” meme. Check this post from Littlegreenfootballs. Bertrand Pecquerie, Director of the World Editors Forum, argues that Jordan is the victim of a new “McCarthyism.” Whoa. The McCarthyism Accusation. M. Percuerie’s plaint includes this flawed gem:

Real promoters of citizen media would have to take some distance with those who have fueled and organised the Eason Jordan hatred. If not, the ?new era of journalism? opened by the blogosphere will appear as the old clothes of American populism.

I’d say that real journalists would demand the tape.

Charles Johnson of LGF responds:

This could give us a clue why the World Economic Forum is continuing to stonewall on the release of the video of the discussion?they don?t want the blogosphere to see an audience full of leading world journalists cheering and applauding Jordan?s vicious slander.

Roll the tape and let’s see if Pecquerie’s charge of McCarthyism has any weight– especially since it was Jordan who made an unsubstantiated mega-charge, a la Joe McCarthy. M. Pecquerie has taken a position in print and we’re delighted because he won’t be able to run from it. Please, add your voice, Bertrand. J’accuse, you say? Produce the tape, monsieur. Old clothes of American populism? Until we see the tape, it’s reasonable to assume that Emperor Bertrand wears the same clothes as Emperor Eason –not a stitch.

  1. You’ve got a blog? Cool. I’ve been wanting to get in touch for quite awhile anyway, so this seems like a good opportunity. Don’t make me mention all that nonsense about the skis. I’ll do it, you know. Congrats, Bro, on all your success. Just out of curiosity, does a RoseDale-Peaches reference bring to mind any long-ago strangness (Ltd.)? The Simca being dead would be in that same. reference, I think.

  2. As we now know, Sen. Joseph McCarthy was indeed on to something. In response to the new fever swamp, moonbat left, Sen. Joe’s legacy has morphed from self-agrandizing politician, to demagogue, to prophet. M. Pecquerie’s use of “McCarthyism” has only seved to remind us that we should have payed much more attention to Senator Joe when we had the chance. Since the TSM refuses to demand the release of the tape, we can be pretty certain that it contains just about everything we think it does. Since our imagination is the next best thing to actually having a copy of the tape, we’ll just have to go with that for now. Heh.

  3. The myopic MSM, always looking to paint themselves as a victim, are lashing out at the blogs. They claim that the conservative blogs are a bloodthirsty, savage, and unrepentant lot. Obviously, they still don’t understand the nature of their enemy. They’re desperately waging a Quixotic battle with a windmill from the back of an ass. The blogs weren’t calling for Eason Jordan’s resignation. At least, not the ones I was reading. They were calling for the WEF to release the tapes of the conference. Eason Jordan and CNN never have asked for these tapes to be released. Jordan “resigned” without mentioning the tapes. Obviously, there can only be one reason for this. Because the tapes would show exactly what the pundits claimed they did. Otherwise, he could have just said “I didn’t say that…please release the tapes, and I will be vindicated.” Eason Jordan deliberated slandered our troops to curry favor with the 2nd world countries of Europe and the terrorists that rule the oil-drenched deserts. He was pissing on the graves of the men and women that gave their lives to make this world a better place. a href=”http://www.peeniewallie.com/archives_2005_02.htm#wallflower”www.peeniewallie.com

  4. Jordan deserved to be sacked because he was head of CNN News. The pro-Kerry and anti-war stance of CNN was plenty of reason to dump him, without regard to his feverish belief that Ameicans killed reporters on purpose. He backed Kerry and he backed Quagmie–too losers. The recent elections in Iraq should result in more heads rolling in the MSM, but don’t hold your breath.
